Nine people were killed and around three others injured by lightning strikes in four districts yesterday, according to police.

In Sunamganj, five people were killed as they were struck by lightning separately.

The deceased are Nur Hossain, 35, a farmer, Shahara Banu, 55, wife of late Hazrat Ali, Surma Begum, 22, daughter of Abdur Rahman, Ferdous, 12, son of Asad Ali, and Moslem Uddin, 75.

Meanwhile, three people were injured in another incident of lightning at Hatamar village in Jamalganj upazila.

Similarly, Zobair Miah, 32, and Sujon, 27, died in Habiganj, Islam Uddin, 65, in Netrakona and Fahim Hossain, 12, in Kishoreganj.
