National Legal Aid Day will be observed today across the country in order to make people aware of the government providing legal assistance to the poor, insolvent, and destitute justice-seekers.

The law ministry has organised a programme in Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on the occasion, where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will speak as the chief guest.   

Talk-shows, discussions, and blood donation camps will be held across the country, said a press release.    

On Wednesday, Law Minister Anisul Huq said 2.31 lakh people had got legal aid and 1.66 lakh received financial assistance through 64 legal aid offices since 2009.
