Japan has doubled the number of scholarship recipients to 30 for Bangladesh government officials for study in Japanese universities.

Japan has been providing scholarship to the officials each year since 2010 under the Japanese Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS).

Japan has also decided to open up the JDS scheme for PhD candidates from the current fiscal. To this effect, Japan Ambassador Masato Watanabe and Economic Relations Division Secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam signed the exchange of notes yesterday, says a press release.
