Women in the country are overburdened with familial responsibility, which is a major setback for their growth in the labour market, a new study said.

The research -- “Finding the way towards gender equality and providing an overview of the development of trade union” -- was disseminated in a seminar yesterday at The Daily Star Centre, organised by Karmojibi Nari and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.

Lawmaker Shirin Akhter, Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Roy Ramesh Chandra, Tina Blohm and Dr Pratima Paul Majumder were present.
