The High Court yesterday sought explanation from the government as why it did not issue a gazette notification clarifying Section 81 of the Children’s Act 2013.

The order came following a writ petition filed three lawyers Kamal Hossain Meahzi, Ashfaqur Rahman Uzzal, and Fazlur Rahman.

Petitioners’ lawyer Barrister Hassan MS Azim said, pictures of children were published in several print and online media during recent question leak incident.

As a result, they were demoralised and their mental development hampered, he added.

He further said, publishing, printing or broadcasting pictures of children during trial of any lawsuit against them is prohibited under Section 81.

No gazette notification has been so far to clarify the provision.
