BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday said the government has failed to put the Teesta water-sharing issue on agenda during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ongoing visit to India.

“People expect that the Teesta water-sharing issue with India will be solved whenever the prime minister visits India. But, she has failed to put the issue on the agenda during the ongoing visit,” he said.

Mosharraf was speaking at a discussion at Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

The premier is on an official visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mosharraf also alleged that the government is conducting anti-drug drives without taking any action against the “godfathers” of the rackets.

Referring to PM's special envoy HM Ershad's speech that the godfathers are in the parliament, Mosharraf said then why the government is not taking any action against them.

Meanwhile, during a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed claimed that at least 75 people were killed during the recent drives.

He called upon the government to stop the killings in the name of anti-drug drives.
