Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods and drugs worth around Tk 84.2 crore during anti-smuggling drives across the country, mostly in border areas, in April this year.

The paramilitary force also arrested 120 people over their alleged involvement in smuggling contraband items and drugs in between April 1 and April 30. BGB also seized six pistols, 11 guns, 27 rounds of bullets and six magazines.

The BGB arrested 120 Bangladeshis for illegally crossing Bangladesh borders. Twenty-five Indians were arrested for illegally trespassing into Bangladesh territory during the period.

Later, the detained Indian nationals were handed over to Indian Border Security Force, said BGB Headquarters Public Relations Officer Mohsin Reza.

So far, smuggled goods and illegal drugs worth around Tk 392.56 crore have been seized by the BGB in first four months till April 30, he added.
