Dipu Moni, former foreign minister, has been elected chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Asian University for Women (AUW).

Sheikha Al-Misnad, former president of Qatar University and a member of the Qatar royal family, has been elected vice-chairperson at a meeting of the board held in Dhaka on Friday, said a press release yesterday.

Young Joon-Kim, a partner of international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy, will continue to serve as the secretary while Kapil Jain, partner of Ernst and Young, as treasurer.

New members are: Nirmala Rao, pro-rector of School of Oriental and African Studies in London; Rubana Huq, managing director of Mohammadi Group in Bangladesh;  Meenakshi Gopinath, former principal of Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi; Lale Kasebi, chief communication officer and head of Strategic Engagement at Li and Fung in Hong Kong; and Lynne Anne Davis, president and senior partner, Fleishmann Hillard Asia Pacific in Hong Kong.
