Unidentified miscreants hacked a Jubo League activist to death in Lohagara upazila of Chittagong on Thursday night.

Kamal Uddin, 22, son of late Rahmat Ali of Nasir Mohammad Para in the upazila, was an activist of Charamba union unit of the youth wing of the ruling Awami League, said Mohammad Shahjahan, officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station.

During a power blackout, around five criminals wearing masks attacked him around 10:30pm while he was at a tea stall around 200 yards off his home, said the OC.

Locals rushed him to the upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injuries, he said.

In connection with the murder, police on suspicion detained a leader and an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami in Charamba of the upazila early yesterday.

Shamsuzzaman Helali, ameer of Charamba union unit; and Nurul Absar, an activist, are being interrogated in the police station, the OC said.
