3rd Day of Eid Train Ticket Sales

Crowd gets bigger

The rush of ticket-seekers reached its peak at the capital's Kamalapur and Chittagong railway stations yesterday, on the third day of the advance Eid ticket sales.

Both the railways stations were swarming with holidaymakers since early morning with some waiting since Tuesday night.

Tickets for September 9 were sold yesterday and tickets for 10 and 11 will be sold today and tomorrow correspondingly.

Eid-ul-Azah is expected to be celebrated on September 12.

“…our officers are trying to manage the crowd and sell tickets in a disciplined way,” said Feroz Salah Uddin, secretary of the railways ministry.

Authorities started the sale at 8:00am and a commuter was allowed to buy a maximum of four tickets.

Visiting the Kamalapur station yesterday, many people were seen standing in long queues, while some were sitting on the floor.

In Chittagong, many were seen delighted finding tickets after long wait, while, disheartened, many also left the station, reports our correspondent.

Tickets of Sylhet-bound Paharika Express, Dhaka-bound Chattala Express and Mymensingh-bound Bijoy Express finished by 11:00am yesterday, said railways officials.
