Police detained a ward councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) over allegations of making derogatory comments about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the present government.

Maqsudul Alam Khandaker Khorshed, councilor of ward 13 of NCC was detained from the premises of Narayanganj Adharsha School in the city at around 2.30 pm yesterday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatullah Model Police Station Monzur Quader said, he has been detained on complaints from several local persons for making derogatory comments on Bangabandhu and the present government at the voter card distribution programme. 

The matter is being probed, the OC said, adding, he is an accused in several other cases involving subversive activities.

Khorshed, also the convenor of city Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, denied all allegations made against him.
