The government will begin the construction works for the permanent campus of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University this year at Hamid Char in Kalurghat area in Chittagong.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently allocated 106 acres of land to the university authorities in this regard.

The authorities yesterday organised a views-exchange meeting with locals to seek cooperation from them during the construction.

Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal were present.
