Body, hanging from tree, found in Mohakhali

The body of a youth hanging from a tree was recovered today from Mohakhali area of Dhaka.

According to witnesses, the body was hanging from a mango tree, some 15 feet off the ground, along the rail crossing of Mohakhali since early today.

Informed, law enforcers recovered the body around 12:00noon, said Sub-inspector Ali Akbar of Dhaka Railway Police Station. The identity of the deceased, aged around 30-35 years, is yet to be known.

The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.

It is being suspected that the youth committed suicide last night, the SI said.

YOUTH’S BODY FOUND IN MOHAMMADPUR CANAL

The body of one Rashed, 17, was found stuffed in a sack, from a canal in Dhaka Metro Housing area in Mohammadpur around 11:30am, Jamaluddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Rashed, a resident of Aziz Khan Road in Rayerbazar, has been missing since January 2 after he went out to meet a friend. On January 5, his family members filed a missing diary with police.

Police detained two persons in this regard after the GD was filed, and based on the information retrieved after interrogating them, the law enforcers recovered the body, he added.

The motive behind the killing is still not clear.
