Bir Shreshtho Ruhul Amin's anniversary of death today

Today is the 46th death anniversary of Bir Shreshtho Ruhul Amin.
Bir Shreshtho Shaheed Mohammad Ruhul Amin Memorial Library and Memorial Museum Complex arranged a discussion, a milad mahfil and a programme to distribute food among the destitute in his native village Baghpanchra of Noakhali.
Born on February 1, 1934 in Baghpanchra of Sonaimuri upazila, Ruhul is one of the seven Liberation War heroes who got the highest gallantry award.
Ruhul joined the then Pakistan Navy as a sailor in 1953. In 1968, he was posted to BNS Baktiar in Chittagong and had been serving there till the 1971 Liberation War.
On December 10, 1971, when a convoy of three ships, including The Palash of which Ruhul Amin was a sailor, reached near Khulna, four enemy aircraft bombed the convoy that caught fire. Ruhul did not leave the ship, tried to extinguish the fire and continued attacking the enemy. Meantime, he became injured and fell into the river.
He reached the shore but unfortunately got caught by Razakars who killed him later.
