Be objective

Inu urges journos

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday urged journalists to prepare their news in a more objective way.

The journalists should remain unbiased and maintain ethics while reporting, he said.

“Conflicts are everywhere…, even in moral values. Journalists should remain neutral. They should not publish news which may instigate conflict,” he said.

The minister made the remarks at a two-day workshop organised by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) in association with Internews, an international organisation, at The Daily Star Centre in the capital.

A total of 30 journalists across different media platforms such as print, electronic and online took part in the workshop titled, “Conflict Sensitive Journalism”.

The workshop was conducted by noted journalism consultant Nicholas Nugent, a former BBC correspondent.

The minister also distributed certificates among journalists yesterday on the last day of the workshop.
