51st DU convocation on Oct 6

The 51st convocation of Dhaka University will be held on October 6 this year.

Liberian Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee has been proposed as the chief guest. She will also be conferred with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the ceremony, said a press release.

The announcement came yesterday at a preparatory meeting held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus.

To arrange the ceremony smoothly, an executive committee, a managing committee and 26 sub-committees were formed during the meeting presided over by DU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman.

Members of the university's senate and syndicate, representatives of Dhaka University Teachers' Association (Duta), and other high officials were present at the meeting.
