4 killed in road accidents
At least four persons were killed and three injured in road accidents across the country yesterday.
In Jhenidah, Nur Islam, 40, and Mamun Hossain died after the driver of a Jhenidah-bound human-haulier lost control over the steering and overturned in Itkhola area on Magura-Jhenidah road, reports our correspondent.
They were rescued and taken to a local hospital where the doctors declared them dead. The incident also left one person injured.
In Savar, private car driver Md Rony, 32, died after a covered van ran him over on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, police said quoting witnesses. Rony tried to stop the vehicle after it collided with his car, but the van driver rammed him and fled the scene, witnesses said, adding that the victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
Meanwhile in Sylhet, truck driver Arshad Ahmed died following a head-on collision between his truck and a human-haulier in Lalmatia area of South Surma upazila, witnesses said.
The victim was taken to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Two others were also injured.
