A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion yesterday destroyed around 1,100 maunds of mangoes and jailed six traders for using harmful chemicals to ripen the fruits in Mazar Road area of Mirpur-1 in Dhaka.

Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam conducted the drive along with members of Rab-4 from 5:30am to 4:30pm, said second-in-command of the Rab-4 battalion Maj Kazi Saifuddin Ahmed. The traders were sentenced to different jail terms -- from three months to one year, he said.
