The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation has recently added two new vessels—MV Modhumoti ship and a RoRo ferry—to its fleet to help transport the huge number of homebound travellers ahead of the Eid festival.

Both the new vessels built by the Western Marine Shipyard made their maiden voyages on the Dhaka-Barisal route and Mawa–Keorakandi route after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated them on Tuesday, Western Marine Shipyard said in a statement.

Modhumoti can carry 750 passengers while the RoRo Ferry can accommodate 340 passengers and 27 trucks, according to the statement.

Western Marine has built passenger ships for the corporation earlier too.
