Md Mahbub ul Alam has recently been appointed as managing director and chief executive officer of Islami Bank Bangladesh.

Prior to the new role, he was the additional managing director of the bank, the lender said in a statement yesterday.

Alam joined the bank as a probationary officer in 1984. He went on to lead the corporate and retail investment, international banking and operations wing of the bank.

He earned honours and master's degrees in marketing from the University of Dhaka.
