Entrepreneurs should develop their technological skills to excel in e-commerce business, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said yesterday.

Shirin spoke at the launch of a new e-commerce site—gooseyours.com—for lifestyle products.

Goose Ltd, the owing company, launched the online shopping site at an event at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the capital. The e-commerce platforms are growing fast in Bangladesh thanks to the digitalisation and low infrastructure cost, she said.

Entrepreneurs do not need to spend a penny to open showrooms to run an e-commerce business, she said, adding: “But it is very difficult to make profit from such business as the customers know a very little about such online platforms.”

Women are doing very well in the business due to hard work, said Rokia Afzal Rahman, a former caretaker government adviser. Most women entrepreneurs are engaged in small business, she said, adding that women should try to establish big ventures as well.

Goose will work hard to provide people with the best quality products and it also targets to export its leather goods in the near future, said Mita Bosh, managing director of the company.
