Women can become successful entrepreneurs if they have determination, a solid plan and easy access to bank loans, bank officials and businesswomen said in a dialogue yesterday.

Dhaka University Women Entrepreneur-ship Development Club organised the event with the theme of "Be an entrepreneur, enrich your horizon", at the MBA building of the business faculty of the university.

Nasreen Awal Mintoo, president of Women Entrepreneur Association of Bangladesh, shared her experience on how she formed her institution, Sheuti, which sells handicrafts and homemade products.

She also discussed how to properly run a business, in presence of a hundreds of university students.

Md Abdul Bashar, deputy general manager of the SME and Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank, shed light on services provided by the central bank to the potential entrepreneurs.

New entrepreneurs can get loans of up to Tk 25 lakh at less than 10 percent of interest, Bashar said. He urged the students to grab the available opportunities.

Md Mossaraf Hossain, a professor of the management department of Dhaka University, also spoke.
