CSE to organise capital market fair

A three-day exhibition on capital market—CSE 6th Capital Market and Investment Fair 2018— will begin in the port city on February 1.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) is organising the fair with an aim to provide the young generation with the proper knowledge on capital market.

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam is scheduled to inaugurate the fair.

Seventy firms, including stock brokers, merchant banks, financial institutions, IT companies and listed companies, will take part in the show occupying six pavilions and eight mini pavilions at the GEC Convention Centre.

CSE earlier organised such fairs thrice in Chittagong, once in Sylhet in 2008 and once in Dhaka in 2014.

Not only the capital market but also investment would be focused for the first time in this year's fair, said CSE Managing Director M Saifur Rahman Majumder.

He spoke at a press conference at CSE's conference room yesterday.

The event also targets highlighting the importance of Chittagong in the country's economy, he said.

CSE thinks that branding Chittagong is important for overall economic development of the country, he said.

Three technical seminars titled ''Infrastructure financing through capital market'', “Prospects and challenges of financing through capital market” and “Unlocking potential of capital market'' would be organised in the fair.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith is scheduled to attend the concluding ceremony.
