Brac University organises discussion on career choices for young women

Women should think positively and set goals of their lives to reap the most benefits of the opportunities they get, women professionals said yesterday.

Three successful women shared their thoughts at a discussion on career choices for young women, with the students of Brac University in Dhaka.

The HULTPrize@BRACU of Brac Business School and British Council Bangladesh jointly organised the event.

The discussion was aimed at sharing thoughts and motivating the team of Brac University that won in one of the local rounds of the HULT Prize 2017 challenge with a social business plan on manufacturing sanitary napkins with water hyacinth.

The challenge titled “Reawakening human potential” is an initiative of the Hult Prize Foundation, a start-up accelerator for social business ideas of young entrepreneurs. The winners get $1 million as seed capital.

The discussants were: Nazia Andaleeb Preema, visual artist; Billie JD Porter, British journalist, and Kendall Robbins, arts director of British Council Bangladesh.

They urged the young people to go out and get engaged in different activities that can change the world.

They also lauded the Brac University's team for their courage to address core needs of women.
