AB Bank launches dual currency debit card

AB Bank yesterday launched a dual currency debit card to help facilitate settlement of transactions electronically at home and abroad.

The customers of the first generation bank can have their passports endorsed using the cards within their regular travel quota limits.

Moshiur Rahman Chowdhury, managing director of AB Bank, launched the “Visa International Debit Card” at a programme at Sonargoan hotel in Dhaka.

The bank also rolled out another product—Deposit Double Instalment Scheme—to draw funds.

Under the scheme, the depositors can double their initial deposit in just three years with an initial deposit and subsequent monthly instalments.

The product can be availed by both individuals and business entities.

AB Bank has introduced many innovative products in the market and the dual currency debit card is the latest addition, according to Chowdhury.

“The bank is attaching priority to adopting modern technology so that clients can enjoy the best services from us. For this, the bank has to spend hugely but we are doing it for the interest of clients,” he said.

Reazul Islam, head of IT at the bank, said clients are now allowed to settle digital transaction abroad only through credit cards.

Clients have to fulfil huge requirements to get a credit card and the process is lengthy as well, he said.

“But AB Bank will hand over the dual currency debit card within three days,” he said.

Deputy managing directors Sajjad Hussain and Shamshia I Mutasim also spoke.
