Jaago students visit Monasa  Learning Centre

Jaago Foundation children visited Monasa Learning Centre on April 30 as part of an educational outreach initiative. The tour helped Monasa students share their talents and time with a group of Jaago students.
“We wanted to create a bridge for kids to teach other kids,” said Mary O'Connor, CEO of Monasa Learning Centre. She also emphasised on co-operation and sharing knowledge in order to succeed. Korvi Rakshand, founder of Jaago Foundation, shared his inspirational story with the group gathered at Monasa.
The Monasa students worked for a month to create their own math board games to share with the Jaago students. “The interaction between children was overwhelming to watch,” said Monasa teacher Yusra. Ambreen Miraly, a Director of Monasa, said, “Monasa's purpose is to make sure that students get the best education and enter the best universities so that they can help build a better country. “Jaago and Monasa share some common goals and for this reason we had this event to help promote Jaago's work and increase their sponsorship,” she added.

A visit to Intrepid Museum

MD. MABROOR HOSSAIN

Last year I got an opportunity to visit USA with my parents. In USA I visited many amazing places like Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum.
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum boasts a collection of ships, aircrafts, submarines, and space innovations. At first, I saw the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) launched in 1943, the aircraft carrier and her crew served during the time of World War II and the Vietnam War. Surviving five kamikaze attacks and one torpedo strike, Intrepid is also related to NASA astronaut recovery vessel. Now Intrepid is berthed on the Hudson River as the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum.
Then I visited the world's fastest Atlantic crossing commercial aircraft, the British Airways Concorde. I also saw aircrafts like A-4B Skyhawk, Sikorsky Sea Guardian, A-12 Black Bird and Bell AH-1 Cobra.
Then I boarded the submarine Growler and took a close-up inspection of the once “top secret” missile command centre. Growler is the only American submarine open to the public.
Among other amazing things, I saw the space shuttle pavilion through a soundscape, featuring actual conversation between mission control and space shuttle enterprise pilot during flight test. The space shuttle enterprise is the prototype NASA orbiter that paved the way for the space shuttle programme. Our guide took us on a fascinating multimedia journey through the past, present and future of space exploration.
I have learnt how science, science fiction, popular culture have shaped our drive to “go where no man has gone before.”
