Bricks were thrown aiming former state minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir in the field of a madrasa in Kachua upazila of Chandpur today.

The former minister went to Ujani Jamia Islamia Ibrahimia madrasa to take part in a special prayer around 4:00pm. People cursed him in obscene language as he was going up to the stage in the madrasa field, reports the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Seeing the situation, the program committee and the police quickly took him out of the madarasa. He entered his car amid police protection. At this point, the agitated people started throwing bricks at his car.

Although he was not hurt, the car suffered partial damage.

The police fired 13 blank shots to bring the situation under control.
