‘Bomb thrower’ shot by police

An alleged blockader was shot by police while he was fleeing away after hurling a crude bomb at a bus at Shahbagh in Dhaka this evening.
The incident happened a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed police to hunt down petrol bomb makers and throwers.
Nur Mohammad, 25, suffered bullet wounds in the left leg and is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He was trying to run away after hurling the crude bomb that left the bus driver injured around 8:00pm, Abdul Azim, a sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Driver Rashidul Islam Rashed was rushed to the DMCH with splinter injuries in the hands and legs.
Meanwhile, a tea vender suffered splinter injuries as a crude bomb went off at a lane in West Islambagh this evening, said Azizul Haque, officer-in-charge of Chawkbazar Police Station.
Md Abdus Samad was rushed to the hospital.
