Two members of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police were hurt in an attack by criminals at Kamalapur Railway Station last night when the law enforcers were carrying out a special drive to nab drug peddlers.

Injured Assistant Sub-Inspector Belal Hossain was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Sub-Inspector Pran Krishna to Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh.

Bachchu Miah, sub-inspector of the police outpost at the DMCH, said a team of the DMP's serious crime investigation unit was conducting the drive.     

At one stage, some criminals attacked the police team around 8:00pm, leaving the two injured. Belal was stabbed in the abdomen, he said.

Police later launched another drive in Kamalapur area to arrest the attackers.
