The government yesterday set office hours for all the government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous organisations from 9:00am to 3:30pm during the holy month of Ramadan.

The decision was taken at the weekly cabinet meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said organisations like banks, insurance, the Supreme Court, postal department, hospitals, Bangladesh Railway, and emergency service providers would fix their office hours at their convenience.

There will be a 15-minute prayer break from 1:15pm-1:30pm during Ramadan office hours, the cabinet secretary said.
