Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen yesterday left for the US for a weeklong visit to attend two UN events – one on Myanmar crisis and the other on Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

During his tour, at the invitation of UN General Assembly President Volkan Bozkir, he will also try to hold a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington DC.

"Rohingya is a big issue. It is a chance for us to discuss the issue. We will demand quickest repatriation of the Rohingyas at the event on Myanmar crisis," Momen told reporters last week.

Momen will also address the LDC meeting where he will highlight issues related to Bangladesh's graduation to a developing nation.

During the events, he will demand quick delivery of Covid-19 vaccines by the developed countries and making vaccine a public good.

Momen is expected to return on June 22.
