Bangabandhu may return on Sept 3

PHONE CALL WITH SYED NAZRUL ISLAM

Bangabandhu is likely to return home by September 3 though he has not yet fully recovered, informs BSS. Today, he talks with acting Prime Minister Syed Nazrul Islam over the phone. Bangabandhu expresses his extreme anxiety to know about Adamjee incidents, food and other situation of the country. Syed Nazrul Islam apprises him of all that he wanted to know.

Bangabandhu also has a long session with Dr Nurul Islam, deputy chairman of Bangladesh Planning Commission, today. Dr Islam arrived in Geneva from Baltimore.

The Director of the International Press Institute Albert Meyer called on Bangabandhu yesterday. 

RECOGNISE BANGLADESH FOR PEACE

India clearly said to Pakistan during the Indo-Pak talks concluded in New Delhi yesterday that the question of Pakistani prisoner of war and civilian internees could not be settled without the participation and agreement of the Government of Bangladesh. The Indian delegation also impressed upon the Pakistani delegation the need for recognition of Bangladesh without any delay.

CHINA THREATENS TO VETO AGAIN

China today threatens to use its veto again to stop Bangladesh's entry into the UN if the UN resolution on Indo-Pak conflict passed in December 1971 is not implemented properly.

BANGLADESH WILL BUY IRAQI CRUDE OIL

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abdus Samad Azad today says in Baghdad that his visit to Iraq has opened a new chapter in the relationship between Bangladesh and Iraq.  Bangladesh is considering the establishment of diplomatic relations with Iraq. The country will buy crude oil from Iraq, he adds.

Bangladesh foreign minister further says, "The attitude of Bangladesh towards fighting Zionism is well known. Bangladesh condemns the Israeli aggression against the Arab states and backs those countries in liberating their territory."
