Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized 3,000 bottles of foreign liquor of different brands, worth around Tk five crore, from Uttara Club in the capital yesterday evening. 

“We seized the liquor as the authorities of the club failed to show valid documents for the liquor,” said Shahidul Islam, director general of CIID.

Cases will be filed under the Customs Act and the Narcotics Control Act against the responsible persons after investigation, he added.

The official said the staffers of the club did not assist their team when the raid began around 2:00pm. Breaking the lock of the club, the team entered it and seized the liquor.

The Daily Star could not contact the club authorities immediately.
