Citycell-Channel i Music Award held

Citycell-Channel i Music Award, the largest award giving ceremony in the country's music scene, was held in Mirpur Indoor Stadium in the capital on June 15 evening. Hundreds of artistes attended the ceremony, which has been taking place for the last 10 years.
Starting from dazzling stage decorations to delighting musical presentations and charming dance performances, the event was packed with entertainment. With the participation of musicians, film and television stars and people from the music industry, the programme had everything to spellbind the audience.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to noted singer Ferdousi Rahman for her outstanding contributions to the enrichment of music.
Faridur Reza Sagor, managing director of Impress Telefilm; Taslim Ahmed, head of corporate communications and public relations of Citycell; musicologist Mustafa Zaman Abbasi and singer Sabina Yasmin handed over the award to Ferdousi Rahman.

Ferdousi Rahman said, “I have received many awards in my life but this one is special. I will always remember this honour.”
Twelve artistes, music directors, album cover designers and music video makers received Critic Awards in different categories.
The award winning artistes included Sabina Yasmin (Rabindra Sangeet), Khairul Anam Shakil (Nazrul Sangeet), Kiran Chandra Roy (folk songs), Samina Chowdhury (adhunik songs) and Shoron (emerging talent).
Nakib Khan and Zulfiqer Russel also received Critic Awards for music direction and lyrics respectively, along with Chirkutt that bagged best band award in critics' choice.

Moreover, Tahsan received Popular Choice Award, along with Band Joler Gaan, singer Chandan Sinha and Krsishnakali.
The colourful event also hosted eye-catching performances by both popular and veteran singers.
A host of musicians including Sabina Yasmin, Tapan Mahmud, Ferdous Ara, Abida Sultana, Rafiqul Alam, Farida Parveen, Ayub Bacchu, Anima Roy, Nirjhor, Dinat Zahan Munni, Konal, Tahsan and Imran performed at the programme among others.
Anisur Rahman Milon, Toma Mirza, Omar Sani, Prosun Azad and Sumon danced in sync with film songs.
Farzana Brownia hosted the programme, directed by Shahidul Alam Sacchu. The recorded version of the programme will soon air on Channel i.
