AL MP sues Banglanews24 editor, reporters

Awami League lawmaker and former water resources minister Ramesh Chandra Sen has sued the editor-in-chief of online news portal Banglanews24.com and its two correspondents over ‘defamatory’ articles.
Ramesh, a ruling party MP from Thakurgaon-1 constituency, filed the case today with the district chief judicial magistrate’s court, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
Mahbubul Alam Sohagh, a roving correspondent of the news portal, has been sued for his feature appeared on Banglanews24.com on July 25 under the headline “Nij jelai lanchhito holen Ramesh Chandra Sen” (Ramesh Chandra Sen was assaulted in his home district).
While staff correspondent Md Asad Zaman was sued for his article published on the news portal on July 14 under the headline “Ramesh-e dubechhe Awami League, Fakhrul-e changa BNP” (Awami League is down for Ramesh, BNP up for Fakhrul).
Alamgir Hossain, the editor-in-chief, was sued for publishing the news.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Zulfiquar Ali Khan accepted the case and summoned the trio on October 9 to appear before the court.
