Akram Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operation, and parents of national team cricketer Rubel Hossain met him at Dhaka Central Jail this morning.

Earlier on Thursday, a Dhaka court sent Rubel to jail on his surrender in connection with a rape case filed by film actress Naznin Akter Happy.

Rubel’s father, mother and Akram Khan met him for around 20 minutes from 10:30am, Farman Ali, senior jail super of Dhaka Central Jail, told The Daily Star Online.

Rubel, who received a four-week anticipatory bail on December 15, appeared before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat Thursday morning and submitted a petition for bail.

After hearing, the court rejected his petition and ordered authorities to send Rubel to jail.

The pacer, who is in the 15-member national squad which is going to represent Bangladesh in the upcoming cricket World Cup, was at the centre of controversy since Happy came up with the allegation of rape against him recently.

Happy filed the case under the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act on December 13 accusing Rubel of luring her into an extramarital affair with false promises of marriage.

The women and children repression prevention act registers the fraudulence as a rape charge.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday announced the 15-member squad for the 2015 cricket world cup which is going to begin on February 14.
