Ahmed Sofa was one of the few writers who, in post-liberation Bangladesh, pointed out the concerns of the underprivileged through his writings, speakers said at a discussion yesterday.
They were addressing the 12th memorial discussion on Ahmed Sofa, organised by Ahmed Sofa Rastroshobha, and Centre for Asian Art and Culture at Dhaka University.
Addressing the discussion, noted columnist Syed Abul Maksud said, “As his [Sofa's] write ups reflect the true spirit of our independence, we need to carry out more research on his unexplored thoughts and ideals.”
Speakers mentioned that the country desperately needs a write like him who can boldly portray the existing inequality and injustice prevailing in the country.
Prof Salimullah Khan, among others, also spoke.
