At least seven primary school children were killed and 20 others injured as their picnic bus plunged into a roadside canal in Chougacha upazila in Jessore this evening.

Police said the bus with around 30 children of Benapole Govt Primary School skidded off the road due to rain in Jhautola area around 8:30pm, reports our Jessore correspondent.

The seven children died on the spot, said Matiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chougacha Police Station.

The official said the accident took place on their way back to Benapole from Mujibnagar in Meherpur after a picnic there.
