Four women pedestrians were crushed to death under the wheels of a truck in Burichong upazila of Comilla early today.

The deceased were identified as Salma Akter, 32, Jahanara Begum, 65, Monoara Begum, 45 and Ranu Ara Begum, 55, resident of Punnomoti Noapara village of Burichong upazila.

Police said the truck ran over a group of woman, numbering seven to eight, at Punnomoti Noapara village when they were returning home from a Mahfil around 1:00am, leaving one dead on the spot and 5 others critically injured.

Later three of the injured died on the way to Comilla Medical College and Hospital.

Jahirul islam, officer-in-charge of Burichong Police Station, confirmed the incident.
