Case Against Hasina
Court asks for probe report by Aug 12

A Dhaka court yesterday again directed officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon Police Station to submit the probe report of a case against Awami League Chief Sheikh Hasina and her personal staff Manu Majumder for extortion of Tk 3 crore by August 12.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman passed the order when the general recording officer (GRO) placed the case before the court saying that Tejgaon police is yet to submit the report.

Earlier on April 10, May 10 and June 11, the same court had directed police to submit the report but police did not complete investigation of the case.

Tajul Islam Farook, chairman of Westmont Power Company, filed the case on April 9 under non-bailable sections of the penal code accusing Hasina of extorting Tk 3 crore and abusing power while she was the prime minister in 1998.
