Programme celebrating works of Tagore, Nazrul and Sukanto

Speakers at a recent discussion in Khagrachhari said, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Sukanto Bhattacharya are creative titans in our literature. The common element in works by these three greats is the universal message of peace and harmony.Apart from the discussion, prize distribution and cultural programme were also part of the two-day event, paying homage to Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Sukanto Bhattachrya. The programme was held at the Tribal Cultural Institute (TCI) in Khagrachhari district town marking birth anniversaries of the three poets. The function was organised by Khagrachhari Theater, and jointly sponsored by Khagrachhari District Administration and Khagrachhari Hill District Council. Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC) Chairman Monindra Lal Tripura was the chief guest at the programme. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shahdat Hossain presided over the discussion. Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tapon Kanti Gosh spoke at the event. A cultural programme followed the discussion and prize giving ceremony. Noted artistes of the district Abul Kashem, Ratan Devanath, Kajol Sarker, MA Murtaza Polash, Apruma Marma and Shabuddin performed Rabindra and Nazrul Sangeet. Artists also presented dance, recitation, and a short play at the programme. On the first day of the programme, over hundreds of students from local schools and colleges participated in contests on music, dance, recitation, essay writing and drawing.
