Palassey Day today

Today is historic Palassey Day.

On this day in 1757, the glorious sun of national independence set in Palassey on the bank of the Bhagirathi.

The intrigues of the East India Company coupled with the betrayals by close associates of Nawab Sirajuddowla brought an end to the rule of Nawab and established British rule.

Nawab's force lost the battle at Palassey against the East India Company that brought the curtain of independence down for 200 years in Bengal and the whole of India.
