Tributes paid to Comrade Amol Sen

The fourth death anniversary of Comrade Amol Sen, former president of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh (WPB) and one of the veterans of Te-vaga Andolon (Movement for two-thirds share of crops for farmers), was observed yesterday. To mark the occasion, wreaths were placed at the memorial of Amol Sen on the premises of Bakri High School in the morning by the leaders of WPB, Amol Sen Smrity Raksha Committee, Jatiya Krishak Samity, Bangladesh Khetmojur Union, Jatiya Sramik Federation, Nari Mukti Sangsad, Bangladesh Jubo Moitree, Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree, Bakri High School and different cultural organisations. Amol Sen Smrity Raksha Committee organised a discussion at Bakri High School near Jessore-Norail border in the afternoon. Iqbal Kabir Zahid presided over the discussion while WPB General Secretary Bimal Biswas was present as chief guest. "To build a socialist Bangladesh free from exploitation, Amol Sen struggled throughout his life. He did not compromise with his ideology, rather he embraced repression by the then government," said Bimal. WPB also organised a discussion at its central office in the city. At the beginning of the discussion a one-minute silence was observed to show respect to late leader. Saiful Haque, Poresh Chandra Saha, Shahidullah, Shamsuzzaman Milon, Hamidul Haque, Babul Biswas and Ronjit Kumar were present on the occasion.
