Nazrul Academy will organise a three-day Nazrul conference in the capital beginning on May 23 to mark the occasion.

Eminent Nazrul singer Firoza Begum will be accorded a reception at the inaugural function. Law Minister Moudud Ahmed is scheduled to inaugurate the conference.

The conference will begin at 5.30pm everyday at Shilpakala Academy.

Nazrul Academy medal-2005 will be awarded to Shahabuddin Ahmed in recognition of his research work and Mintoo Rahman for his contribution to disseminating Nazrul culture.

Besides, 11 people will be awarded Nazrul Academy crest for research works. They are Justice Abu Syed Chowdhury (posthumously), Justice Abdul Moudud (posthumously), Mohammad Nasiruddin (posthumously), Mohammad Mujibur Rahman Kha (posthumously), poet Ataur Rahman (posthumously), Prof. SM Lutfur Rahman, Sheikh Darbar Alam, Mofijul Islam, Julhash Uddin Ahmed, Abdus Sattar and SM Ahsan Murshed.
