Make healthy films
Minister urges filmmakers

Information Minister M Shamsul Islam yesterday called upon the filmmakers to make healthy films reflecting our own culture, history and lifestyle.

"Such healthy films will get us international awards," he said while inaugurating the premier show of telefilm "Chasti" at Cinemax Hall of Bashundhara Shopping Complex in the city.

The film based on Rabindranath Tagore's short story "Shasti" and directed by Chasi Nazrul was produced by Impress Telefilm with the financial assistance of HSBC.

The Information Minister called for making such films which could be enjoyed by all members of a family together.

"Good films can project the country's culture, heritage and people to the world community," he said.

Communications Minister Nazmul Huda also attended the function.

Managing Director of Channel I Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of NTV Enayetur Rahman, Chasi Nazrul, noted film artistes Iliyas Kanchan, Champa and Purnima and Corporate Chief of HSBC Adel Islam were present.
