Insurgent killed in Khagrachhari shootout

A tribal insurgent was killed and an army troop injured in a shootout during a predawn raid on a hideout of insurgents in the deep forest under Sadar upazila yesterday.An SBBL and two LMGs, 10 bullets and other lethal weapons were recovered during the raid, sources said. The deceased was identified as Anupam Chakma Zingfu, 19, son of Amar Sen Chakma of Matiranga. According to sources, army troops picked up Zingfu from Matiranga Bazar on Monday and took him to their hideout yesterday morning. Sensing army presence, Zingfu's associates opened fire on the troops, killing Zingfu on the spot and injuring the army man. Later, the army men destroyed the den of the insurgents.
