Hikmatul Zihad, a previously unheard-of organisation, has claimed responsibility for Saturday's grenade attack on Awami League (AL) rally and vowed to assassinate Leader of the Opposition and AL President Sheikh Hasina in a week."We are coming and this time we will (accomplish) our target within 7 days. It's a promise," one Hyder Rob, representing the organisation, said in a message emailed to Bangla daily the Prothom Alo Monday night. Hasina told the media last night that she is not afraid of the threat and that there would be more threats to her life now. She narrowly escaped Saturday's grenade attack on the rally on Bangabandhu Avenue that left 19 including central AL leader Ivy Rahman dead and over 200 hurt. The advertisement wing ([email protected]) of the Prothom Alo received the email from [email protected] at 8:31pm Monday. Talking to The Daily Star by phone last night, State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar said, "I'm trying to reach Moti Bhai (Prothom Alo Editor Motiur Rahman) by phone for his consent to get the computer they opened the email from checked." "Two experts will check the computer to track down the sender of the email and I hope we'll succeed," he said. In the message captioned 'Reminder', Rob said, "(Don't) think that (Sheikh) Hasina is out of danger. We missed our previous chance but now we are very (careful in) our mission. Tell her to be (prepared)." The Prothom Alo sent a copy of the e-mail message to the AL and the AL President's Office faxed copies to other newspaper offices. Awami League Organising Secretary and Hasina's Political Secretary Saber Hossain Chowdhury acknowledged receipt of the copy from the Prothom Alo office yesterday. He told The Daily Star they would take up the issue with law-enforcing agencies and the home ministry. The Prothom Alo Editor Motiur Rahman told The Daily Star yesterday that his office informed the home ministry of the mail.
