Ban smoking in public places

Smoking is undoubtedly a dangerous habit. It causes many fatal diseases like cancer, heart attack, chronic bronchitis etc. In spite of knowing the truth, it is estimated that more than 1.5 crore males and 50 lakh females are in the habit of smoking in our country, and it kills about 35 lakh people globally a year including a substantial number in Bangladesh. So, it is the crucial moment for the government to take some steps against it . If the neighboring country, India, can enact a law by which smoking in the public places is prohibited and made punishable, why can't Bangladesh pass such a law? Besides, smoking is so dangerous that it can cause great damage to a non-smoker. That is why it must be prohibited in the public transports, hotels and restaurants, in the roads and in other public places. In my view, though the law passed by the Indian government can't deter the chain-smoker from smoking, it's a symbolic action against tobacco. Though it is very tough to uproot this problem, the government can try to eradicate it by taking some effective steps and save the youths, the future of the nation who are killing themselves by taking nicotine. To begin with, taxes on tobacco products manufactured in the country should be increased in the budget for the next fiscal year
