Army chief Goes to Bandarban

Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Hasan Moshhud Chow-dhury yesterday arrived here on a sudden visit.The army chief held talks with high army officials in Bandarban about which, however, the officials kept mum. The army chief visited Bandar-ban in the wake of abduction, extortion and arms smuggling in the district. Meanwhile, a weapons experts team from the United States visited Naikhangchhari of Bandarban last week to look into infiltration of arms including US made M-19 and M-16 rifles.
