Professionals' body to probe violation of human rights

Manabik Sahajya Sangstha (MSS), a non-government organisation, will form a Human Rights Watch Group (HRWG) at grassroots level by involving various professional groups to investigate human rights violation and extend legal aid to the victims.

Under its human rights education project, the MSS will expand its activities to 210 unions under 15 districts of the country, said MSS Director A N M Enam Hasanath at his office in the city on Wednesday.

"Most of the people are not aware of human rights violation in remote areas of the country where it is a regular phenomenon, and that's why we will make them aware of their rights," he added.

Samsad Ara Rana, programme officer of the project, said the HRWG would discuss human rights issues with the local administration on regular basis in order to check the incidents of human rights violation.

She said the group would inform the policy makers regarding human rights violation cases through organising seminars at the divisional and national level.

Anik Asad, Golam Mostafa and Abir Ahmed of MSS were present on the occasion.
